Node Homemakers - August Meeting

Good Day, Y’all! Welcome to the replay of the Node Homemakers August meeting, at noon, Crossroad Ministries, 8/11/10. Somethin’s telling me that I’ve mentioned the cooking talents in this club numerous times in the past. YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHIN’ YET! Our one & only Virginia Stuart was hostess for our August meeting, and she arrived with a full counter of hot food. Here’s the trick question...Did we have the meeting or ear first? Dahhhhh! (Hope you’re sitting down.) Virginia, with Brenda Colby’s help, served fried chicken, mashed ‘tators with gravy, corn on the cob, fresh baked dinner rolls, coleslaw better than KFC’s, and carrot cake. Kristina Pearce brought a strawberry & mixed melon salad, too! OK, that was Wednesday... I shouldn’t have to eat ‘til at least Friday, right? This is rough!

OK. Cookie wanted to call the meeting to order before I was done with my cake...Wassup with dat? So, I held the flag for our Pledge of Allegiance instead of whining. Five members were present to include; Pres. Cookie Fenno, Sec. Sandi Richardson, Treas. Brenda Colby, Virginia Stuart, Kristina Pearce,... and 2+ guests of Kristina’s, Jennifer, Abree, & a beautiful baby to join us soon. I got tired of spoutin’ off, so Cookie read last month’s minutes and did a FINE job! Approved/No Corrections. Correspondence came by means of emails to most members from Anna Simmons, apparently the new State Pres. She sent the July Prairie Tales, the Quilt rotation routing guidelines 2011 to 2012, the State Officers 2010 to 2011, and the State Quilt Challenge poster. Brenda Colby presented the treasurer’s report, to include ALL the positive feedback concerning the NEW special at fair...Node Homemakers Friday Morning Biscuits & Gravy! It seems y’all may be able to count on that again next year. Treasurer’s report accepted. Business got rather piped up with the fair kitchen, a "HUGE" Thanks to Anna, Carrie Olson’s daughter, for helping in the kitchen during fair with Node, a Thank You going out to Diane Willert of Colorado for donating bears for our Teddy Bear program, Node’s 100 year celebration, and pie flavor reconsiderations. We continued with aprons &/or the lack of them, as well as an alternative frosting recipe. (Now I’m really tired!)

Kristina Pearce plans on hostessing our September meeting, highlighted with a "Tea" and done properly in Kristina’s style. Take my word for it,...come hungry. That will be Sept. 8th, 201, noon, at her lovely home. Upon completing this document, I opened my kitty book to a page that reads,..."Act as though you can not fail but keep a humble spirit." Works for me! Congrats to ALL the participants at fair, Love You, Bye.

Respectfully Submitted,
Sandi Richardson

Node Homemakers - July Meeting

Howdy folks! It seems we’ve all gotten past wishing for summer to get here, and now I’m hearing it’s too darned hot. I wonder if that scenario has anything to do with the "out of town company" theory...After 3 days, everything in sight starts to smell like fish! Must be the 3 day thing. What your take on that???

Thanks to a bit of a "breeze", Node Homemakers relocated their July meeting from Wash. Park to Crossroad Ministries at noon on July 14, 2010. The honorable Pres. Cookie Fenno called us to order, at which time everyone took a low-dose chill pill. Kristina Pearce graciously held our flag for the Pledge of Allegiance, and roll call response found 8 members, 2 guests, and 2 guests who didn’t know they were guests, to include; Pres. Cookie Fenno, Jana Smith, Virginia Stuart, Tres. Brenda Colby, Diane Marshik, Kristina Pearce, Sec. Sandi Richardson, Dee Norris, Virginia’s guest & cousin, Emma, Dee’s guest Colleen, Pastor Dale Smith, and Board Member/ Deacon John Fenno.

Proper procedure ask for the reading of last month’s minutes, so after Jana piped up with Node Homemakers "Here we go!",...I stumbled thru those minutes. Upon completion, I got a round of applause!!! Now this is either abuse, or love & admiration. Your choice, but these "chickedies" don’t need anymore caffeine! Nobody wrote to us this past month, and Brenda Colby’s Treas. Report put a smile on everyone’s face. Sec. & Treas. Reports accepted as read.

Unfinished business led us to reviewing requirements for fair, and ultimately, the use of a calculator & Jana suffering with finger cramps. But everything got sifted out, with times and responsibilities being established after Cookie got her whip out! That shall continue with Cookie being our Fair Chairman. Way to go, Honey.

All agreed that the Tea Sets in question,... should be used at Spring Tea. Now there’s a decision for ya!

Just a reminder, Node Homemakers welcomes guests at our meetings, but I’m strongly considering doing one of those ol’ hippy type 3-day fasts before the next meeting, ‘cause THESE CHICKS DO SOME FOOD! Listen to this; Kristina Pearce made homemade bread & sweet butter, Dee Norris & Colleen brought a Melon Bowl and chips, Diane Marshik made Pulled Pork, Brenda Colby did original Caramel Corn and Dark Choc. Chunk Granola Bars, Virginia Stuart & cousin Emma made Blueberry Salad & Pistachio/ Coconut Salad, Jana Smith sliced & diced a prime time Cantaloupe, Cookie Fenno played around with a whole mess of BBQ Lil’ Smokies, and Sandi Richardson brought home grown, organic sliced tomatoes, and Cucumber Salad. SSSOOOOOO......Who in their right mind would show up at one of our meetings without an appetite??? It all looked SO good, that we chowed out during the meeting. Imagine that! Carla Stroh stopped in, but didn’t have a lot of time. Hope you grabbed some food, Girl. Everyone enjoyed seeing you!

Our next group effort will be Aug. 11, 2010, noon, at Crossroad Ministries, with Virginia Stuart as our hostess...Should be 3 clicks past yummy!

There you have it. My Wisdom Kittens book says, "Only those who attempt the absurd... will achieve the impossible." That’s MY excuse this month!

Respectfully submitted,
Sandi Richardson, Sec. For Node
