The Cheyenne River 4-H club was reorganized a few years ago. There was a need for the club due to the distance members were traveling to attend other club meetings. Most of our members live at least 35 miles from Lusk, with the farthest family living 75 miles (one way)! We are still the smallest club with only eight members this year.
The club holds meetings six times a year. We usually hold our meeting in the evenings with a dinner prepared by the host family. We have had some excellent meals and fun times visiting with our 4-H families.
Our President, Danny Matney, represented Niobrara County and Wyoming at the Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. in June 2010.
Our community service project for this year was to send a package to a soldier in Iraq. We adopted Mr. Chadwick Scott and hope he has enjoyed the things we have sent him in appreciation for fighting for our country.
We are very proud of the leadership that our members have shown in our community.
We welcome new members and hope to see everyone at the fair. Be sure and look us up!!!

President Linee Hanson called meeting to order at seven o’ clock p.m. at Darin Hanson’s home. Peyton Kottwitz led the 4-H pledge. Krista Hanson read secretary’s report and took roll with members answering what they’re doing for the summer. There were no corrections to the minutes. Peyton gave treasurer’s report. There were no bills and no correspondence. Old business was discussed including fun-day activities. Dates were set to go to the lake and water slides. Linee is going to call the rest of the club about dates. Morgan Hanson moved and Peyton seconded the motion to schedule our fun-days on July 12th and August 8th-10th. Next was community service. Many things were discussed including cleaning up Mule Creek Junction, asking about painting the fire hydrants in Lusk, providing drinks for firefighters out North, and donating money to the Lusk Volunteer Fire Department. Abby Kottwitz moved and Morgan seconded to donate the money. Marcia Hanson is going to get the drinks to serve firefighters when they fight fires this summer. Moving onto new business members were reminded about livestock and horse judgings and YQA with older members encouraged to volunteer their help with one of the evenings. Next on the list was Tour Day which is going to be held June 23rd immediately after Activity Day and end up at Dennis Hanson's home for supper and a meeting. Float themes were discussed and there were many new ideas. The club was also reminded about the food safety class the 22nd of June if we’re going to serve at any dinners. Krista moved and Landin seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:11 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Krista Hanson

Cheyenne River 4-H Club met on February 8th at the Fairgrounds. Club President, Linee Hanson, was called away at the last moment to handle ranching duties associated with wayward cattle so Vice President, Peyton Kottwitz stepped up to the plate to be in charge of her first meeting. Bryn Bruch and Abby Kottwitz led the club in pledges. Landin Hanson took roll-call. A brief summary of the last meeting was given by the leader, treasurer's report was given by Peyton and correspondence consisting of a thank you note from the library was read.
Club leader went over project record sheets and white pages for the benefit of several young new members. Calendar was discussed. Club discussed briefly the use of virtual technology for remote members unable to be at every meeting. Peyton and Abby Kottwitz gave an informative demonstration on their first sewing project. They both made a Minkee Boa that should win them a prize at fair.
Fun day discussion was tabled until all of the members can be at the next meeting which is scheduled for March 9 at 5:15 at the fair grounds. Danny moved and Landin seconded to adjourn the meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Krista Hanson
